This course provides students with an historical background of the Caribbean experience from social, political and economic perspectives, and to
enable them to relate those experiences to present day Caribbean realities. (Prerequisite: ENG104)

This course serves as an introduction to the history of the Virgin Islands. The course surveys the history from the earliest settlement of the Virgin Islands through to the twentieth century. The course examines the changing nature of Virgin Islands' culture, society and economy through time.

Ancient rends in the development of Western Civilization to the fall of Byzantium (1453). This course is intended to expose the student to the philosophic thought which has molded human civilizations. The linkage will be drawn between such thought and the social structure and its political economy.
